Gifford Road Race 2018

The race started at a pretty reasonable time of 13:30 which meant that I could head up to the race and see the other boys racing in the 3/4.
In 2 degrees and rain it was set to be a pretty grim race but in Scotland, what's new ? It momentarily stopped raining for the start of the race for myself Alex and Ben which was nice as long as it lasted. The race was 8 laps of a rolling circuit on some home roads and just into the second lap I jumped across a small gap to John Archibald when we proceeded to ride just the 2 of us for the next 4 laps steadily opening a gap on the main field when we were joined 2 laps to go by will Corbett another Ribble rider and we rode hard together until the final lap where I was turned over by the other 2 boys and ended up with third overall and first junior.
All in all it was a good day for myself with Ben doing a good job marking any potential threats and helping break up the chase as best he could along with taking second junior. Unfortunately for Alex he had to stop with half a lap to go due to temperature related struggles. All in all it was a good day out for the team and provides us all with confidence for races moving forward.
